Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would have placed her, at least in the eyes of America, into the child prodigy category. This was a very natural characteristic for a girl who was of Irish descent, who was nurtured in her early days by talented family members and parents. Maureen joined this wonderful haven within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th, 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons' mother, Lilburn, was a contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also owned a piece of the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons came second from a household of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off the gorgeous family. Maureen was an athletic natural and loved playing athletic games. Furthermore, she had a gift to act. As a result, she was awarded almost all of the Feis Awards for her dramatic and acting performances within her own country. She was accepted at the Abbey Theater by age 14 as she was able to fulfill her goals of opera as well as classical theater and singing.
